19 weeks.....Its a !!!!

It was a short stressful week for me as I got a new student with some behavior issues and afterschool tutorials started making my work day go from 6:30-4:30 plus an hour drive home.  Yuck.  This baby has started kicking up a storm and literally wakes me up during late night stomach boxing sessions.

This pregnancy has been so different than the others that we all thought maybe it might be a different gender. As much as Dale and I were hoping for a girl, I sensed that this one might be another boy. I had even told my aunt when I found out I was pregnant that it was going to be another boy.  So when the ultrasound tech announced that this little bean was indeed a BOY, I wasn't surprised.  We both shed a tear and said goodbye to the notion of having a girl but smiled at the thought of another energetic boy joining our family. Clark and Kannon were both so excited to have a little brother---Clark told the tech he was naming "his" baby Michael Jackson Thomas.   Lol! On the way home, Clark and Kannon were both chanting in the back seat, "we're having a brother, we're having a brother!".

Everyone has started asking us "are you disappointed? Will you try again? Will you have more?"  Please, people, stop with the stupid questions. We have always wanted 3-4 kids but that would mean getting rid of my Subaru (KIDDING!)  and we weren't trying for a girl--we knew we had a 50/50 chance of producing either.  We were trying for a healthy baby!  Yes, it would have been wonderful to experience raising a daughter but I am delighted that I get to add another boy to our family.   Dale is a little sad that he won't have a future little Daddy's girl or those father-daughter moments. But, we have the honor of raising sensitive, strong boys who will hopefully know how to cook, clean, and love their future partners.  Kannon and Clark will have another boy to share their toys with and teach silly fart jokes. I will always be the queen of this house spoiled by all my men! I do worry about how to feed 3 future teenage boys, so we may have to buy a farm or a pizza place.  I also know that my toilets will never be clean but that's why I will make them clean the bathrooms!

This baby is perfect and healthy.  I cried when we first saw the guy flickering on the screen.  He was sucking his thumb, using my placenta as a pillow, and had his feet crossed at the ankles.  Already at almost 20 week, you could see his perfect little body, chin, lips, and cute little ears.  We have a name picked out for this guy but per our tradition, we won't share the name until birth!

THIRSTY. Waking up a million times to pee at night but I feel baby flutters daily now! I had hip pain when I was 36 weeks pregnant with Clark....that hip pain has returned in full force! My left hip will lock up if I sit for too long or move the wrong way...oh joy!

18 weeks

This week was rough as school was busy and the weather dreary but I started feeling baby move more regularly now!  My 2nd graders are very excited that I will be having another baby and ask me questions daily--which is a blessing and a curse! We made it through the week and are so excited to have a long weekend to catch up!  We finally bought plane tickets to go to Phoenix in April for a friends wedding and have a little getaway without the kids!  I'm looking forward to it!!!  On Friday, we are celebrating my birthday with our gender ultrasound (I will be almost 20 weeks!!) and dinner and a movie.  I can't wait!!!!

In other news, Dale started working at a new restaurant, Triniti.  We actually celebrated my birthday there last year and had a wonderful experience.  We are very excited about this much needed change and so far Dale loves it!

17 weeks!

Clark started dance this week and loved it! He especially loved all the attention from the girls! Kannon was invited to Kindergarten round-up/registration....I can't believe we will have a KINDERGARTNER! The weather is dreary and gray and we are all a little annoyed (reminds us a little too much of Seattle).  But, we scheduled our anatomy ultrasound for January 23--girl or boy, here we come! Hoping for a healthy baby of course!

16 Weeks

I met with my midwife on Monday and had such a wonderful experience.  Our appointment was an hour and she went over my history, nutrition, and measured baby's growth and heart rate.  Baby was fluttering away with a heart beat between 148-152 and measuring right on track. I have the big GENDER ultrasound and anatomy scan scheduled for January 23 and will go back to the midwife for my 20 week appointment on January 26.  I am so excited!!!

This week, we bought some Fuzzibunz cloth diapers and a wet bag.  A friend of mine sent me a Babyhawk mei tei baby carrier, which I loved using when the boys were young but sadly lost mine.  We got rid of most of our baby stuff when we moved to Texas so we have started putting together a registry at Target for some of the bigger items we will need like a carseat and baby bathtub.  It has been so much fun and amazing to see how much things have changed in just 5 years!

I go back to work on Monday.  Fortunately, I have a teacher prep day before the kids come back--I have been on break so long I barely remember my students names!
